SURFING

Lorne sits in the middle of the surf coast that stretches from Torquay to Cape Otway. With the competition swells at Bells Beach, gentler waves loved by beginners of all ages and a museum dedicated to the history of surfing, there’s a little bit of famous Australian surf culture for everyone.

LORNE BEACH

Stretch your legs and take a beautiful beach walk. The surf swell softens at the town beach for easy, pleasant swimming. The kids can have the run of the trampolines and skate park while you do some cruisy laps at the sea baths. And of course, a beach holiday isn’t complete without fish and chips on the sand, surrounded by seagulls and the dusky sunset light.

FISHING

Lorne's got the pickings for anyone keen with a rod. Extending far out into the bay, the pier is a popular spot where you might take home a snapper, salmon or whiting. As night falls, hang around the lights at the end to try for some squid. There’s also trout to be won in the clean fresh river waters and the prized black bream in the Erskine estuary. The walkway next to the river is perfect for kids to try their luck.
